Social Skills Program

The manner in which we communicate with others can be as important as the words we use. In fact, our manner or style can help or hinder communication. Recognizing this need, we have developed a program series to address the social delays experienced by children.
We provide training to address the social delays experienced by students. Communication skills will be developed in the context of interactive activities with a focus on developing eye contact, using appropriate body language, resolving verbal conflicts, using self advocacy skills in the classroom and applying effective repair strategies, to name a few skills. Children should be at or above grade expectations and able to sustain positive behavior with others. Having completed our Level I program, students then move to Levels 2,3 and 4 as their skills indicate. Taught by speech-language pathologists and assistants, the group meets for 90 minutes once weekly for six weeks three times yearly. A questionnaire and parent discussion will determine specific goals for each student as well as the appropriate level.
